Question #1

  • What technologies are currently in use?

4 comments:

  1. One technology that is being offered on the IACET website (2011) is online training modules. The training modules helps bring “practices to life and show you how to apply them to your organization” (para. 2). Each module is set up like a case study and demonstrates the “Standard in action in real-life business situation” ("IACET The Standard For Lifelong Learning: Online Modules", 2011, para. 4). IACET designs training modules that are specific to the needs of each organization or group, and are interactive in nature, flexible, and easy to use ("IACET The Standard For Lifelong Learning: Online Modules", 2011).

  2. Workshops: These workshops are designed as a live learning environment for the purpose of becoming certified as an authorized provider and facilitator of the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training. The workshop will allow the participant to “Discuss the benefits of IACET AP status, Document processes to meet the ANSI/IACET Standard, Explain the IACET AP application process and identify satisfactory responses, and Calculate Continuing Education Units (CEUs)” (International Association of Continuing Education and Training, 2011, p. 1.

Webinars: Authorized Providers (AP) can access monthly webinars addressing adult learning latest developments. Core webinars for members only provide the IACET standard through courses such as Certificate Programs and Their Value, How Other APs Are Using Their IACET CEUs, and Web-Based/Online Course Development and Implementation. Webinars have also been created to provide assistance with the AP application process. The third webinar within the site is titled IACET 101, which is intended to give the participant an understanding of the history, learning process, and framework for assisting government agencies, associations, and private companies (International Association of Continuing Education and Training, 2011).

Online Modules: This platform allows the member to maintain proficiency at one’s own schedule.

Within each module, case studies demonstrate the Standard in action in real-life business situations. Recorded webinars, resource documents and other online materials shed insight into both the AP accreditation process and continuous improvement frameworks (International Association of Continuing Education and Training, 2011, p. 1).

Modules are purchased individually or in bundles of four at a discount. Modules provide customized learning experiences for the participant, provide forms, and can be viewed individually or in groups.

  3. IACET has an online store and E-newletters for individual members and Authorized Providers to obtain access. A virtual bookstore that is available to the members is a good idea. Currently I see four books that are available, which is a very limited library. IACET can connect to Amazon.com to become an affiliate member and sell additions books that will benefit the membership. The organization can also make some additional revenue by affiliating themselves with Amazon.com bookstore. IACET can pick the books they want to sell or recommend and expand their library without adding cost to the organization.

There is several ways to learn about how the online modules show the ANSI/IACET Standard in action and how the designs are developed and delivered. IACET provides APs access to transcripts of American Council on Education’s, and offers a lifetime to records and transcripts for learners to successfully complete continuing education and training courses through and IACET AP (International Association of Continuing Education and Training, 2011).

With ACE’s CEU transcript service, learners present a nationally presentable transcript to colleges, universities, employers, or licensed professionals. IACET APs records are detailed and learners involvement in their programs (International Association of Continuing Education and Training, 2011).

Throughout the year, IACET give tremendous changes for learners can be active with CE/T peers worldwide and more from IACET investment.

•Host an AP workshop and get one complimentary registration.

•Bring an IACET AP facilitator to you by hosting an on-site workshop to your team.

•Share your experience with other APs in the IACET Spotlight.

•Join IACET on LinkedIn or Facebook to search, contact and share ideas with CE/T Providers around the world.

•Volunteer for one of IACET’s many committees to help shape IACET’s programs and initiatives (International Association of Continuing Education and Training, 2011).
